Delicious Sony NW-E507

August 5, 2005

ok... so i've bought the delicious looking Sony NW-E507 and used it for a few days... costed me $340 from Sony store... how did it turn out? well...

the good things first: delicious looking, 1gb flash (meaning no skipping like hdd players), fm tuner with presets, 3line EL display, select/shuffle/repeat tracks/albums etc, long battery life (50hrs supposedly, havent test it out), quick recharge feature (3mins for first 3hrs playback or so), delicious looking.

now the bad things: relatively costly, no neckstrap or holes for neckstrap, heard the plastic clip isn't really good, came with a stupidly short earphone, usb 1.1 only (duh! why not 2?), need a mini head usb cable to charge and transfer via pc, stores songs in Sony's own format (therefore cannot simply copy mp3s in and out), need a crappy sony software to transfer mp3s (SonyStage is the crappy software. they recently provided a drag-and-drop simple mp3 file manager but it STILL converts the songs to another format. duh!).

verdict: did i regret? well... not really. personally i find ipod shuffle is not so delicious anymore, and i was really looking for a flash based mp3 player cum fm tuner. it costs about the same as the new Samsung YP-F1Z and for personal point of view i find this more delicious. oh yeah call me vain or whatever, but it IS delicious. Get it if you find it delicious. If not, there are more practical but not so delicious stuff out there :)
